Fred Rines
It was with great sorrow that we all learned of Fred Rines’ passing on Thursday. Mr. Rines was an outstanding example of community service that clearly set the bar high for his son and our former Mayor.
It is extraordinarily fitting that the City flag which Brian was instrumental in placing at City Hall, in part to honor others who have served this community in important ways, now flies at half staff to honor his father’s contributions.
We will reflect upon the important contributions he made to our community, share the sorrow of his passing, and keep Brian and his family foremost in our thoughts during this time.
EPackets
We shall transition weekly packet formats for internal dissemination next week. Currently we produce an “email packet” for distribution to the City Council and department heads and post the same packet in a different electronic format on the web at gardinermaine.com. This is the last email packet we will produce. As we progress through our technology project, Council Chambers will now have wireless access, negating the need to produce two separate electronic versions of the packet. Starting with next week’s packet everyone will access the packet on the Council page of gardinermaine.com. Council and department heads will receive an email notification and link to the packet when it is posted. We currently post a similar public notification to the bulletin board at gardinermaine.com,
which is tied to the email notification function for the website itself.
