Cobbossee Corridor Master Plan
The Planning Board will hold a public hearing next week on zoning amendments to further implement the Cobbossee Corridor Master Plan. The master planning process was a very comprehensive stakeholder-based project to plan the appropriate reuse of the area from New Mills Dam to Bridge Street. The zoning amendments will continue implementation of multiple uses such as housing within the commercial district as well as promote highest and best reuses of existing industrial/commercial sites. After Planning Board action a recommendation will come to the Council.

Facility Improvements in the FY 07 Budget
Two significant improvements to City facilities were included in the current budget.

Removal of the original 1960’s paneling in the Council Chambers is due to begin late next week. The Maine Department of Corrections Pre-Release program will initially remove all the paneling for us (free of charge), and may be able to help us finish the project as well. Although sheetrock and paint is nothing fancy, losing our 1960’s aura will be a welcome change.

The cold storage building at Public Works has become rather deteriorated over time. As the first step in a multi-year phased project we will recently bid the replacement of the siding. The low bid of $11,254 was substantially below our expectations of between $15,000 - $20,000 and will allow us to make more substantial progress on rehabilitating this important City asset.
