FY 06 Budget
We started on the FY 06 budget last month. In early January I wrote to the management team and asked that they prepare their departmental submissions. For the fifth sequential year, I asked that entirely flat budgets be submitted with the exception of fixed costs such as fuel or contractual personnel expenses. Below is a schedule I distributed to get the budget process started:
January 7, 2005 - Manager Requests Budgets
February 25, 2005 - Budgets Submitted to Manager
February 28, 2005 - Budget Memo Submitted to Manager
March 1-7 – Department Heads Meet with Manager to Discuss Budget Submission
April 1, 2005 - Manager Develops Rough Draft
May 1, 2005 - Manager Submits Budget to Council
May/June – Council Budget Workshops
July 1, 2005 - Council Finalizes Expense Side
August 1, 2005 - Council Finalizes Revenue Side with the availability of year-end figures and valuation.
In this packet
