It is a real pleasure (and relief for those in the front office) to have Michelle back from maternity leave. It is simply perfect timing, in that taxes are due this coming Wednesday the 15th. . What a welcome back!

West Street Update
We continue to check items off the list regarding the West Street odor issue. We recently cleaned the pump stations associated with the sewer extension to the Business Park. It is very likely that this cleaning will improve conditions on West Street. Additionally, plans for the replacement of approximately 300 feet of pipe at the bottom of West Street have been received from the engineer and the project is going out to bid. This replacement project is likely to have a substantial effect upon possible odors, not so much because of the condition of the pipe, but the circumstances of air and water flows in the pipe. The installation of charcoal filters at points likely to vent to the atmosphere has also been completed.

WWTP
Another milestone was reached in the final phases of the CSO/Plant Upgrade project. Our new sludge de-watering equipment was performance tested this week. We will not know definitively until an independent analysis is received, but initial indications are the equipment is meeting specifications.

Gardiner was the second application of this equipment in Maine, although others have since become interested. A group from Michigan flew in by private jet to Augusta recently to visit our installation, so it is fairly cutting edge technology.
