The Governor is in Town
Mark your calendars! Thursday, March 18 Governor John Baldacci will visit Gardiner to help us celebrate our important successes. Both the recent $500,000 Maine Investment Trust Fund award (for the Waterfront) and the $1.5 million grant for the Wastewater Plant were part of significant policy initiatives he championed. We invited him to help us celebrate these and many other recent accomplishments we should be very proud of. Everyone is invited to Johnson Hall at 6 PM for a social hour and at 7 PM for the formal celebration.
FY 05 Budget
We have been working on the upcoming budget for some time. At the January Management Team meeting we discussed the process for this year’s budget. Later that month the formal request was distributed with the direction to prepare flat budgets – exclusive of contractual personnel increases. Late in February departmental submissions were received and discussed. We have since verified the submissions and started the process of putting the entire budget together. By April 1, I will have a draft of the entire City budget and will use the month of April to troubleshoot and polish the document from the “big picture” perspective, amending the details of the budget (in cooperation with appropriate members of the Management Team) as necessary to make the comprehensive document effective. On May 1, I will deliver the budget
to the Council along with a proposed workshop schedule and adoption schedule.
