City Staff
Jeff Hinderliter gave me his resignation today. Jeff was recruited by the town of Wiscassett to fill the new position of town planner. Jeff reinvented the Planning/Code office in Gardiner during his three years here, working both hard and smart for the community. We will miss Jeff’s valuable contributions to our team, but share his enthusiasm for a really exciting new challenge. Jeff will depart Gardiner on a fulltime basis on April 30, but has offered to help transition some major issues over the next month or two, so it is likely we will see him at Planning Board or Council meetings in that regard. He will also be helping in the interim, primarily by telecommuting, with more routine matters.

I will be reviewing opportunities for realigning the provision of City services in this area over the next week. We may have some opportunity for increasing the technical and aggregate capacity of the City in this area through some astute reorganization. I will explore any opportunities we may want to consider over the next few days, as we need to move quickly.

I have neglected to recognize the excellent job Dee Berglund has done as the new Team Leader in the Front Office. Several months ago Dee and I put into place a concept we had discussed in the past – that of creating a Team Leader for the Front Office staff. Dee has done a great job defining this new role and successfully fostering extraordinary service and great efficiency in a hectic and challenging environment. Hooray for the Front Office Team and the Team Leader!
