Memorial Day Mon., May 31City Hall Closed
Planning Board Meeting Wed., June 2, 6:00 pm, City Hall
Council Meeting/Workshop Thurs., June 3, 6:30 pm, City Hall
Council Schedule
I have reviewed our progress in relation to the Budget Workshop schedule and also looked at other Council issues in the near future. Although we had not previously scheduled this, I believe we need to meet on June 10 to clear some the Council business and allow proper focus on the next phase of “big picture” budget issues in July. Please include June 10 as an addition to the June Council schedule.
Several Councilors have asked that we start at 6:30 so that Workshops might not go so late. This next meeting we will start at 6:30.
Employee Appreciation Luncheon
We had a great gathering for the employee appreciation luncheon. Ingrid and her staff really outdid themselves, the food was excellent, the overall accommodations extremely nice and the Olde Time Band joined us for another great event. The suspense was tremendous and the applause sincere as we honored Gay Grant for A Great Idea, Becky Bowdoin for Outstanding Teamwork and Dorothy Morang for Extraordinary Dedication.
Gay has raised more than $347,000 for the Boys and Girls Club. All of this fundraising directly benefits the youth of the area by increasing the programming capacity of the department. Fundraising is challenging work, but is built upon a series of Great Ideas!
The front office has been known for its great focus on customers, a friendly, helpful attitude and high level of teamwork. In a fast paced, demanding environment such as the front office Becky’s cooperative spirit, positive attitude and natural ability to foster an enthusiastic team approach is an important element of this great success.
Over the past several years Dot has continually stepped up voluntarily to do whatever needs to be done. Without prompting from others, Dot has constantly developed new procedures in the three departments she works for - Assessing, Codes and Planning, and General Assistance - as well performed duties far in excess of her actual job description, exhibiting great dedication.
Congratulations to our three awardees and congratulations to the entire City staff for a job well done every day of the year!
