CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE
WEEKLY MEMORANDUM
TO:              Mayor Rines, Councilors and Department Heads
FROM:   Jeffrey Kobrock, City Manager
DATE:   April 7, 2006
RE:             Weekly Memo
Meetings for the Week of April 10, 2006
Economic Dev. Comm.                     Tues., April 11, 8:00 am, City Hall
Planning Board                  Tues., April 11, 6:00 pm, City Hall
Council Meeting/Workshop                Wed., April 12, 6:30 pm, City Hall

Council Schedule
Council meetings will move to Wednesdays at 6:30 PM with this coming meeting, April 12.

We had previously scheduled the initial budget workshop for April 12, however we will need to take care of some business items. We will have a short agenda and then adjourn to our inaugural budget workshop.

FY 07 Budget for City Services
The FY 07 budget is being published today. It is available on the City Manager’s page at Gardinermaine.com. Councilors will receive a separate Ebudget packet and a separate agenda packet. A proposed schedule for workshops and adoption is included with the budget documents.

Senior Management Team
Chris Paszyc had been a valued member of the senior management team. After his departure the team continued with the remaining two members, Chuck Applebee and Pat Gilbert. I am excited to have recently reconstituted the senior management team with Anne Davis and Jason Simcock as new, additional members. Anne and Jason bring distinct and very valuable experience to the team. Anne’s advanced degree, her tenure with the City and extensive experience with the Maine Library Association (including a very active role as President) are among the assets she will bring. Jason has nine years in municipal management with a very diverse set of experiences as well as management experience in state government and an advanced degree. I am very excited about the great strengths this reconstituted team will bring to the complex issues our organization encounters.
