Department of Labor
The Wastewater Plant was inspected by the Department of Labor in December and twenty two items requiring correction were noted. Many of these items were policy-related. We found this particularly confounding as Safety Works!, the voluntary compliance/training program of the Department of Labor has been proactively involved in safety issues throughout the City and in particular at the wastewater plant. Other items were related to the construction-site status of the plant and several contractors being on site simultaneously.  There was the possibility of a $2,800 penalty.

Chuck Applebee and his staff worked diligently to address every item over the next sixty days. Their diligence paid off. All twenty-two items have been addressed to the satisfaction of the Department of Labor and any further action has been dismissed. Congratulations to the Wastewater team.

WWTP Project
The contractor for the new pipe in the wastewater project is making good progress down Rt. 24 toward the plant. Currently, the expectation is to finish the pipe work by July. Work at the plant will continue for approximately another year.
