Patrolman Normand Gove graduated today from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Norm is a member of the 10th Basic Law Enforcement Training Program (BLEPT) and today marks the conclusion of their rigorous 18-week training program. Patrolman Gove has done a fantastic job during the past 18 weeks and he will resume his patrol functions with on Monday May 29th. His colleagues and the overtime budget definitely look forward to his return to duty.
Jason Simcock has been accepted into the Maine Development Foundation’s Leadership Maine program. Program officials report this was one of the more competitive selection processes in recent memory, and resulted in one of the largest classes ever. Gardiner should be proud of its participation in this challenging and rewarding program and of Jason’s successful application.
Library
Anne Davis has written to the Selectboard in Farmingdale alerting the community to a pending limitation of library access. $4,000 has been allocated to buy non-resident library cards for Farmingdale residents and that sum is almost exhausted. In fairness to our partner communities who support full community access to the library, we will not be able to issue pre-paid cards to Farmingdale residents when the appropriation is gone.
In the interest of an informed electorate, Anne has mailed Gardiner Library facts to Farmingdale patrons in anticipation of the June 13 referendum regarding the municipal appropriation for library services scheduled in that community.
