Law Court Action
The Maine Law Court recently ruled that boards and commissions must be fully constituted
to have the authority to act. To address the fallout from this action we will have a short
agenda on May 23 to consider an ordinance regarding quorums. A client memo from Eaton
Peabody is in the packet with the background on this matter.
Leadership Maine
Jason Simcock is graduating today from the yearlong Leadership Maine program. The Maine
Development Foundation conducts this very intensive program annually for about forty
participants drawn from around the state with very diverse roles in both public and private
sector organizations. With Jason's graduation, Gardiner is proud to count three Leadership
Maine alums.
Budget Workshops
Enterprise Accounts are scheduled for this coming week. Before we get to Wastewater,
Ambulance and Recreation we will meet with the Water District Trustees to informally
discuss the request for public utilities to serve the proposed Maine Turnpike/MDOT service
plaza. A proposed resolution drafted by the MTA is enclosed in this packet. This is not to
presuppose what action may be taken regarding this matter, but as simply a discussion
document.
The presentations from Wednesday's budget workshop are included in this packet and are
posted on the City Manager's page under the "Presentations" link.
