Recreation
Another successful partnership with MSAD 11 has yielded a new fitness room at the Boys and Girls Club. MSAD#11 was one of two statewide recipients of a federal Department of Education Carol M. White Physical Education for Progress grant. $377,000 was awarded over three years to support a community/district wide "Getting Fit" initiative focused on increasing physical activity and nutrition opportunities and improving the overall health of community members. Year one funding has established a community fitness room equipped with 4 Stairmaster treadmills, 3 Lifecycle recumbent bikes, 1 Lifecycle upright bike, 2 Stairmaster steppers and 4 weight training pieces of equipment. Memberships are available for community members by calling the Boys and Girls Club at 582-8458. The Boys and Girls Club has very graciously offered
memberships as a benefit to full time city employees and their spouses.
Northwest Quadrant Project
A review of the project budget has been completed and recommendations have been developed for adjusting the scope of work to bring it in line with available funding. The project advisory committee will look at options and provide a recommendation for Council consideration at the upcoming meeting.
