Kennebec River Rail Trail
The official dedication of the Gardiner end of the Rail Trail is Saturday June 5 at 9 am. Given the fact that we have been working on the Rail Trail since 1996 and that the final phase of Rail Trail construction was recently funded, this dedication is a very important event. The Mayor and other notables will officiate at the trailhead in the Hannaford parking lot.

Celebrate Gardiner!
Another great reason to celebrate is scheduled for Saturday, June 19. As in the past, Water Street will close for a street festival and the Talent Show and fireworks are scheduled for the evening on the waterfront.

Tax Reform
There have been various forums to discuss tax reform around the state lately. Anne Davis has videotapes of a forum held recently in Cape Elizabeth for general circulation, but has agreed to let us circulate one copy out of the City Manager’s office for everyone’s convenience. Carol Palesky of the Maine Taxpayer’s Action Network is on the panel as well as other representatives of differing perspectives. If you would like to have a look at how the debate played out in Cape Elizabeth call Molly to arrange borrowing the tape.
