National Attention to Waterfront Project
The National Park Service has named Gardiner one of two “Conservation Successes”. At the National Park Service website http://www.nps.gov/ncrc/successes/cons0606.htm , the National Center for Recreation and Conservation named Centreville, Maryland and Gardiner “Conservation Successes” for projects that preserve open space and public access. It is quite a spread, take a look.
Project Canopy
Fifteen “urban street trees” have been planted in the downtown area. Our Project Canopy grant funded this full-scale replacement program. Over the years many trees had been lost to damage or death, but were rarely replaced on a routine basis. Thanks go to Sarah Fritzhand for this important improvement.
