RE: Weekly Memo
Meetings for the Week of July 3, 2006
Holiday Mon. & Tues. City Hall Closed
Regional Dispatch
We formally transferred our dispatching services to the Central Maine Regional Communications Center on Thursday. As the first municipal customer of the center we are both the test case and the pioneer. This culminates many years of perseverance on the part of many, but particularly Mayor Rines, who has championed the efficiencies of regional dispatching tirelessly.
Debit Cards
Customers can now use debit cards for transactions at the front office. This is a very exciting new customer service element that Dee, Michelle and Becky in the front office and Pat Coty worked very hard to institute. TD Banknorth was also instrumental in pioneering this important service with us.
Northwest Quadrant Project
This project is in high gear, although all the bad weather we have been experiencing is certainly making it hard at times for the contractor. Good progress has been made on Autumn Street; sewer and water are essentially complete. The Plaisted Street sewer is about half done, but water and storm drainage have not been started. Clinton Street will be next but only two streets at a time can be opened up, so Autumn will need to progress before moving to Clinton.
Holiday Schedule
City Hall will be closed July 3 and July 4. Employees will take vacation time on July 3 - July 4 is a legal holiday. Have a great Fourth of July!
