Police Department
The Police Department has finished training for taser use. Tasers are now in use for all shifts. During the course of training some officers volunteered to be tased and reported that it was a most unpleasant experience.
The department also has received a grant award for a thermal imaging camera. As part of the Homeland Security grant Officer Murray traveled to New Orleans for training on the new piece of equipment. The camera will be very useful in police operations and investigations.
City Staff
Michelle Fournier will leave for the Secretary of State's information's services office. As a testament to her dedication to Gardiner, she will see the current tax collection process through 30-day notices even after she is at the State. George Curtis will retire from Public Works at the end of the month, police officer Eric Testerman starts training for his Iraqi deployment next week and Sarah Fritzhand will be leaving next week for DHHS.
