We have filed our permit applications for the expansion project with the Department of Environmental Protection. For the wetlands impact we have filed a Natural Resources Protection Act application (referred to as NRPA or "Nerpa"). The overall project requires a Site Location of Development Act application (known as SLODA). The design process to yield these applications is challenging, and often the permitting process itself can be formidable. However, this is a vitally important milestone in the expansion project.
Water District/City Cooperation
The City and Water District have been informally discussing combining billing operations to capitalize upon the technology investments made in the City's billing operations. We have held the billing position open in the front office to facilitate these discussions. The Water District asked Frank O'Hara of Planning Decisions to look at the options and his report and recommendations to the Water District are including in the packet as background. The Trustees have not yet had a chance to discuss the report.
Wastewater Rates
A 1.5 % rate increase is part of the FY 08 Wastewater budget. We will hold a public hearing and consider the rate increase at our upcoming Council meeting.
