Voter Registration
The Secretary of State is developing a new voter registration system. This statewide electronic database will be accessible by every city/town clerk in Maine. Gardiner will be a pilot site in October, and full statewide implementation is expected in 2006. The new system will compare voter lists throughout the state to manage the list as it has never been before, as well as compare the voter list with other existing databases such as Department of Motor Vehicles. Dee Berglund has been very active in the development of the system and is anticipating the challenges of being a pilot implementation site.
