City Staff
Rob Saucier is retiring from the Fire/Rescue service at the end of the month. Rob was recognized Thursday night with a Council Resolution and round of applause for his twenty-five years of fine service! Rob currently serves as Captain of the “C” shift. We have all enjoyed Rob’s easygoing manner and quiet confidence. We will miss Rob and wish him all the best in the future. Thanks Rob!
Chris Paszyc has been recruited for an unbelievable opportunity in the field of commercial real estate. CBRE/The Boulos Company has offered Chris the chance to expand the firm’s capacity in the central Maine market. Anne Davis, long-term member of the Economic Development Committee and a person always looking for the next challenge, is excited about filling in as interim Director of Planning and Development.
Chris leaves the City with a very strong Planning and Development program and an equally excellent Planning and Development team. His service to the community has been exemplary. I am personally very happy that Chris has such an exciting opportunity to pursue. Chris won’t leave until October 1, so we have plenty of time to rib him about jumping to the private sector! And just think, we won’t have to ponder about how to spell his name anymore.
Adelphia Transfer
We have joined a coalition of about 25 communities to manage the proposed transfer of Adelphia franchises to Time Warner. Pat Scully of Bernstein Shur will represent the consortium. Pat Scully represented a similar consortium when FrontierVision sold its interests to Adelphia.
Boys & Girls Club
Enclosed in the packet is a workplan from Ingrid regarding investigation of a skatepark. Ingrid would love some help. Let her know if you have an interest.
Ingrid has also provided two updates on her work with area youth.
Vacation
I will be on vacation August 4 – 26. During this time the senior management team will alternate weeks of coverage, and convene as a full team should any serious issue arise. Molly will have contact information for both the senior management team and me throughout the period.
