Joint Workshop
On Thursday, October 14 at 7 pm the Council will meet in a joint workshop with the Water District Board of Trustees. We will meet at the Boys and Girls Club in the Pray Street School. Consultants from both the Maine Rural Water Association and Kent Associates will present their findings. An agenda is enclosed in this packet.
Recreation
A collaborative proposal between MSAD #11 and the Recreation Department has yielded a $378,000 grant from the US Department of Education, Carol M. White Physical Education Program. The grant will fund physical education programming and equipment for both entities. This is a great example of successfully leveraging the attributes of each organization to produce a highly competitive collaborative initiative. Congrats to Ingrid and crew!
1% Tax Cap Initiative
Anne Davis has been playing an important leadership role in educating the public about the impacts on libraries/community services should the tax cap initiative pass. As part of that role, Anne will debate Phil Harriman of Tax Cap Yes! on October 29 at 12:30 p.m. live on Maine Public Radio, and which will then air on Maine Public Television that evening at 8 p.m. as part of the Election2004 coverage. Anne is strengthening the proud Gardiner tradition of high profile Library Directors with policy impact!
