The Wastewater project is coming to a close ahead of schedule and under budget. The Maine Avenue pump station upgrade is still being tweaked for optimum operations but is complete. The new sludge press is installed, tested and on line. Personnel from the manufacturer in Germany were on site to assist and provide expertise. The new press is a huge leap forward in technology and will save the City substantial sums in sludge disposal. The new primary clarifier is expected to come on line in the next few weeks. It will be exciting to have this extremely complex $7.2 million project completed.
Public Works
We applied for and received $12,380 from FEMA for replacement of a very large four-foot wide and forty-foot long culvert on Riverside Road. This culvert had been a problem for some time and its failure could have been disastrous. The replacement with FEMA funding is very advantageous to the City and gave us the chance to properly reconstruct the head wall and plunge pool.
