Anne Davis received the Intellectual Freedom Award from the Maine Library Association. During her recent tenure as MLA President, Anne was instrumental in educating the public about the USA Patriot Act, and was recognized for that important contribution. Congratulations Anne!
Chuck Applebee has attended the second major event of the yearlong Leadership Maine program. The Mu class spent three days learning about the economy of Washington and Aroostook Counties. The intensive program focuses on learning “in the field” - from the people who work in the industries/business sectors - about the challenges and accomplishments in this part of the Maine economy. I found this to be a very enriching event, primarily due to the experiential learning approach applied (throughout the year), and I am sure Chuck will have a similarly worthwhile experience.
I have been appointed by the Governor to serve on the DEP’s Pollution Control Advisory Board. It will be very exciting to help shape state policy in this area.
