Kudos from CDBG
The normally reserved and staid Office of Community Development has praised Gardiner in a recent programmatic audit. “All in all, the Northwest Quadrant Infrastructure project represents efficient melding of funding sources to achieve coherent solutions to multifaceted problems. Nicely done.” These are very unusual comments for a programmatic audit and speak to the unique aggregation of resources to address complex community problems that Gardiner has become known for.
Sex Offender Notification
Jim Toman recently used an innovative service for community notification in the Maple Street area. A telephone based system allowed immediate notification within a one-mile radius.
WWTP Helps with Training
Eight students from a Central Maine Community College wastewater program visited our plant recently. During a four-hour session the class learned on a practical basis about wastewater operations. This is the first wastewater program offered in Maine since the early 1990’s when programs were suspended for lack of enrollment.
