Economic Development Award
On Wednesday, the Mayor traveled to Auburn and the annual Main Street Maine Conference to receive important recognition for our efforts. The City of Gardiner, Gardiner Board of Trade and Gardiner Main Street received the Outstanding Economic Development Program Award. These annual achievement awards were instituted this year to recognize accomplishments by local communities. Congratulations to all of us for this wonderful validation of our hard work!
Tax Cap Debate
Anne Davis will debate tax cap issues on Maine Public Radio today (Friday the 29th) from 4-5pm and Maine PBS TV will air the debate tonight from 8:30-9:30pm, and again on Sunday, October 31st at 10-11am. Anne has played a very important leadership role in educating the public of the impacts likely from the 1% Tax Cap initiative.
After-the-Vote Information Sessions
On November 4 we will hold a series of informational sessions with City employees. If the Tax Cap passes there will be a real need to share information. However, even if the initiative fails, there is still good reason to gather and discuss the issues. The agenda for these sessions will include participation by the City’s Employee Assistance Program. We will discuss not only the political landscape for local government but also the state of public service and our commitment to it. Employees should have been scheduled for a session on November 4 and also have a draft agenda to reference.
