RE: Weekly Memo
Meetings for the Week of November 15, 2004
Housing Committee Thurs., Nov. 18, 8:00 am, City Hall
Safety Committee
The Safety Committee for several years has been a very important focal point for coordinating trainings and addressing safety issues in the workplace. Recently the group took on a new and very important challenge, investigating how to better control worker’s compensation insurance costs. In a recent session the committee heard from the medical director of Work Place Health, our preferred provider, and an underwriter and transitional work professional from MMA Risk Services, our insurer. We think there is an important symbiosis between a healthy, safe workplace and managing worker’s compensation costs; the success of one effort fosters success for the other. Kudos to the Safety Committee for their diligence in creating the healthiest, safest work environment possible.
Common Corner
The Common Corner has been a work in progress for most of this construction season. With paving around the corner complete, the project is wrapped up. The granite work is not only attractive but also functional – traffic had destroyed the grass and soil on the corner, leaving an unsightly mess as a key impression of the Common. Public Works and Building and Grounds worked hard to fix the problem at minimal cost, and the result is very pleasing. Thank you!
