Project Updates
During our work with Pam Plumb earlier this year Council asked that we look at major projects, update plans and facilitate project implementations. Our agendas for December 6th and 13th deal with much of this work. We will consider an updated implementation plan and the authorization of financing for construction of the Libby Hill Business Park expansion. Additionally, we will consider an implementation plan for future phasing of the Waterfront Project.
Bridge Work
MDOT has scheduled an initial public meeting on proposed reconstruction of the Pearl Harbor Memorial Bridge. Plans currently call for complete replacement of the concrete wearing surface during the upcoming 2007 summer construction season. During this period one lane in each direction will be maintained. I have discussed traffic control measures with the project manager. A consultant is working on the detailed implementation, but diversion of traffic in both the Rt. 201 and I95/295 corridors as well as better managing the traffic lights at each end of the bridge are being researched. At peak travel times during the summer this project is sure to cause some traffic congestion and assuring MDOT is managing the impacts is important.
City Staff
It was a bittersweet day when Becky Sieberg decided to stay at home with her new child rather than return to the front office. However, Diane Jamison will be a welcome addition. Diane comes to us with more than twenty years of customer service, cash management and bookkeeping experience. We are very lucky to find such a qualified candidate. Say hi to Diane as she steps into the hectic pace of the front office as Utility Billing Clerk.
Dee and Michelle have been working short-staffed for so long that it will likely seem like a brand new job Monday morning. Thank you both!
