103 Brunswick Avenue
There is a letter from Erik Stumpfel in the packet concerning the allowable uses for the 103 Brunswick Avenue property. If you recall, we had asked that Erik provide an opinion on a determination made by Barbara MacPheters just prior to her departure. Erik’s discussion is quite exhaustive and a brief summary doesn’t do it justice, but essentially we probably do not have enough information on the historical uses of the property to make a valid determination of whether any non-conforming use is grandfathered.
Welcome Dave & Gerry
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Dave Cichowski as our new Code Enforcement Officer. Dave comes to us with several years of experience as CEO in both Appleton and Washington, and three decades of experience in the building trades. Dave will start on December 27. We selected Dave after a very complete process with a good candidate pool.
With the appointment of Gerald Quintal as a truck driver at Public Works, we have filled the various vacancies that seemed to come all at once this past fall. We had many good candidates and are lucky to have secured our most qualified top choice for this position.
MSHA Project
Enclosed in the packet is a letter from the Maine State Housing Authority regarding an application for a Gardiner affordable housing project on the TW Dick property. The City has previously provided a letter to MSHA describing that the property has been targeted for redevelopment in both the 1999 Downtown Revitalization Plan and the 2005 Cobbossee Corridor Master Plan and that affordable housing was documented as a top priority in the 2003 Housing Action Plan.
