The “Fund for Efficient Delivery of Local and Regional Services”
Over the past several Manager’s Memos I discussed this recently announced grant program. This program might be instrumental in implementing the four resolutions jointly adopted by the City and Water District on October 21, 2004 at Pray Street School. We will meet in a joint workshop with the Water District Board of Trustees to discuss the opportunities and the grant program at 7 PM, January 4, 2005 at the Pray Street School. Given the very short turn around time for this grant it is imperative that we discuss the next steps and possibly have formal consideration of the grant after the workshop.
Council Schedule
We will meet January 4 as noted above and then again next week, January 6, for Inauguration. Our next regular business meeting will be January 13.
Assessing
We have partnered with Winthrop, Augusta and Kennebec County under the auspices of KVCOG to propose sharing assessing services. KVCOG will submit a planning proposal to the Fund for Efficient Delivery of Local and Regional Services on behalf of all four entities to develop a plan for regional assessing services.
As Jim Murphy eases out of the Assessor’s role early in 2005, we have solicited proposals for assessing services. We have received six very qualified proposals and will work toward making a selection early in January.
