Library Director

The City of Gardiner announces a job opening for a Library Director. The successful candidate will have a Masters degree in Library and Information Science and supervisory experience.

The Gardiner Public Library is a city department and is a regional service for the Lower Kennebec Valley. The director is responsible for managing a very busy library that has a demographic population of 17,000 people. This is a department head position supervised by the City Manager with an advisory board of trustees representing Gardiner and the five partner towns using the library. The successful candidate will be the liaison to the Gardiner Library Association - a nonprofit organization that owns, maintains and fundraises for the 1881 library building. The job includes advocating for library services, managing a fulltime staff of four full-time employees and several part-time employees as well as attending city council/town meetings when appropriate.
