Gardiner Wastewater Treatment Plant

You've probably received a few green sewer bills in your mailbox, but have you ever wondered all that's involved in protecting the drinking water supply and keeping the Kennebec River free of pollutants that would limit public use and endanger the aquatic life?

Get a behind the scenes tour with City Manager Andy Carlton and Wastewater Director Doug Clark for a facility tour of the Gardiner Wastewater Treatment Plant, located at 540 River Avenue in South Gardiner on Friday, March 17. The tour will begin at 8am and will be followed with time for open conversation to share your thoughts, concerns, hopes, and ideas for the City of Gardiner.

Wastewater Monitor ScreenBuilt to remove conventional pollutants at the minimum of 85% per day, the Gardiner Treatment Plant typically removes pollutants into the high 90's% and is capable of treating up to 4.5 million gallons of wastewater per day. Read more about the facility on the City's website here, or join in on the tour!

This City Manager meet and greet series will continue throughout the year at various locations throughout Gardiner and will be joined by a new city official each time.
