Warming Centers Open in Gardiner : With extreme cold temperatures and wind chills in the forecast two of Gardiner’s community spaces will be open to the public as warming centers. Both the Gardiner Public Library and the Boys & Girls Club of Kennebec Valley will be available for those seeking warm shelter during these dangerously cold days.

The Gardiner Public Library at 152 Water Street will be open during its normal operating hours on Friday, February 3 from 10am to 5:30pm and Saturday, February 4 from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Along with its usual community resources such as computer access and book and magazine catalogs, the Library will also have tea, coffee and water available during these times.

The Boys & Girls Club of Kennebec Valley, located at 14 Pray Street, will also be open to the public on Saturday, February 3 from 8am to 6pm. The dining hall and gym will be open with tables and chairs with the gym being available for basketball and walking activities. Coffee, tea and water will be available and guests will need to bring their own food for the day.

During these dangerous weather conditions please check in on neighbors and family members who might be at risk of staying safe and warm and share these warming centers as a resource with others in the community.
