Deputy City Clerk

The City of Gardiner is seeking a motivated, team-oriented individual to fill the full-time 37.5 hour/week position of Deputy City Clerk.

This position reports directly to the City Clerk/Tax Collector and is responsible for assisting and supporting in City Clerk duties. The ideal candidate will be able to work well in a fast-paced environment, and have strong administrative, accounting and communication skills. This person must excel in customer service and have a desire to be part of a great team.

They will issue vital records, voter registration, assist with elections, process business licenses, and be responsible for City Council meetings, including the preparation and distribution of electronic agendas and materials, running the audio/video equipment, and attending and taking meeting minutes.  They will serve as the dog licensing agent to the Maine Department of Agriculture and the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife agent for the City.

The ability to interact effectively with elected officials, community members, and City staff is essential.

Starting pay is $21.05 to $23.38 per hour depending on experience, plus excellent benefits, including health insurance and MePERS retirement.

City Hall is open late on Wednesdays and offset with 8-noon hours on Friday.
