Animal Control
The Animal Control Officer can be contacted by calling the dispatch center at 624-7076, dial 9.
The Animal Control Officer is in charge of animal welfare, stray domesticated animals (cats, dogs).
Any complaint of a non-domesticated animal will be referred to the Maine Wardens Service.

Cruelty To Animals Is Against the Law
If you have any questions on cruelty to animals the Maine statutes can be found at Animal Cruelty Maine Statutes.
Did you know that per State Statute all dogs must be registered/licensed with the City by December 31st of each year?
- The licensing fee is $6.00 for a dog that is neutered or spayed and $11.00 for a dog that is not fixed.
- When licensing your dog you must show a current State of Maine rabies certificate.
- In addition, if your dog has been neutered or spayed in the last year please bring that certificate with you as well.
